<abstract>Digital Elevation Model - 3m resolution. The dataset contains the 3m pixel digital elevation model for the Washington Area. LIDAR data provided by the Joint Precision Strike Demonstration Project Office of the US Army contained bare earth rasters used to create the 3m basemap. The buildings and tree canopies have been removed, but the bridges and other less noticeable features that affect bare earth elevations remain.
All DC GIS data is stored and exported in Maryland State Plane coordinates NAD 83 meters.
METADATA CONTENT IS IN PROCESS OF VALIDATION AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE.</abstract>

<attraccr>Validated by source/responsible agency. The 3 Meter Cartographic Base Map is an aggregate of the 1m source LIDAR to 3m pixels using the average of the input cells to determine the output z value used to compute the hillshade value. The buildings and tree canopies have been removed from the origianl LIDAR. However, bridges and other less noticeable features that affect bare earth elevations remain. More importantly, the source bare earth was processed with automated routines ONLY that remove about 85% of all the verticle features.</attraccr>

<logic>In process of validation by source and/or responsible agency. The source bare earth LIDAR was processed using automated methods only, so not all of the verticle features were removed from the LIDAR. Also, the source bare earth was corrected for vegetation and buildings, but still contains bridges and several small areas of single pixel lines containing zero values. Although aggregating the 1m LIDAR to 3m pixels will remove some off these edges, some verticle feature "anomolies" will still occur in appear in the basemap.</logic>

LIDAR data provided by the Joint Precision Strike Demonstration Project Office of the US Army contained bare earth rasters used to create the 3m basemap. The buildings and tree canopies have been removed, but the bridges and other less noticeable features that affect bare earth elevations remain.
All DC GIS data is stored and exported in Maryland State Plane coordinates NAD 83 meters.
